the bodega paintings
the bodega paintings is a conceptual art installation in downtown manhattan that transforms bodegas into temporary art galleries for hamamoto's mixed media paintings. the works feature multicolored price stickers applied to plywood in organic layers, a nod to the ubiquitous price stickers that mark bodega inventory. from april 27th to may 7th, the bodega paintings will be on display in windows, behind deli counters and in refrigerators. for the duration of the installation, bodega owners momentarily take on the role of gallerist.

each location will house one to three paintings, which can be purchased on-site.
